Our unit specializes in the care of the post-operative surgicalpatient. We are the designated unit for Urologic Surgery patients but we alsocare for many other types of surgery patients including oncology-endocrinesurgery, emergency general surgery, plastics, head & neck surgery, andothers. Our focus is to provide patient centered care and to meet theneeds of a diverse patient population which requires our nurses to be familiarwith a wide range of treatments and types of care. 9 South is also equippedwith low acuity vital signs monitors that allow surveillance monitoring for thepost-operative patient population it has capability for continuouspulse-oximetry, capnography, and respiratory rate monitoring. Working onthe Urology unit provides an opportunity to care for a wide variety of patientpopulations in a professional and committed work group.
