Vice President, Product Operations - Optum Corporate - Eden Prairie, MN
Optum is transitioning the organization to have a much stronger product and service mindset in terms of how we develop our offerings and sell in the marketplace. As part of this transition Optum is creating a Corporate Product function to accelerate our development and success in each of the many markets we serve. The VP of Product Operations will advance the product reporting to ensure informed decisions are being made, drive accountability for product performance, embed product life cycle management, and supports product innovation. This position will partner closely with the product groups in each business unit as well as with marketing, finance and sales. The VP of Product Operations has a deep understanding of the business strategy and translates market trends and customer needs into operational initiatives that support business growth. The role is responsible for advancing product management across the entire Optum product portfolio. This includes working closely with each business unit to help them operationalize product initiatives and provide visibility of their portfolios. The role reports to the Head of Product for Optum. Primary Responsibilities: Ensure that the portfolio of solutions meets or exceeds revenue and market share goals, partnering with the businesses to drive incremental earnings improvements Advance Product Taxonomy and performance reporting through business engagement and product and capital committees Lead the transition to common product - based P&Ls to drive improved accountability and control (PPR) Align with finance and operational data initiatives, central product source of truth - MDM and BI Strengthen and embed product life cycle framework with common phases, people and processes at each phase in Accelerate 2.0 Develop Product Scorecards and operating calendar - annual review cycle with ongoing rationalization and prioritization of investment Support Optum Product Leadership Team in support of common approaches Drive innovation with business units and support the development of product road maps Required Qualifications: Four - year degree in business, healthcare, or technology (or equivalent) 10+ Years of experience managing a diverse product portfolio and a deep understanding of product strategy, portfolio management and product development Experience in product development processes, project management, and complex projects and activities Strong demonstrated ability to lead business initiatives to a successful result Ability to manage projects simultaneously and achieve goals. Uses resources effectively and efficiently Experience in complex, matrix organizations; knows how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network Demonstrated leadership ability with cross - functional teams and consensus builder Ability to effectively deal with levels of ambiguity - can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty Good negotiation, problem solving, planning and decision - making skills. Accurately scopes out projects, sets objectives and goals, develops schedules and resource assignments, measures performance against goals, and evaluates results Team building and culture building experience Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization Effective formal presentation and facilitation skills in a variety of settings Ability to work independently and in a team environment in a positive and supportive manner Strong analytical abilities, organization and project / process management skills Strong initiative and self - motivation Excellent follow through, attention to detail, and time management skills Preferred Qualifications: MBA or Master’s degree Business process experience Knowledge of healthcare Experience in Agile development processes Careers with Optum.
