Responsibilities and Qualifications Department description: The goal is to help clients comply with their required substance abuse treatment; with other mandates of the welfare to work initiative; and to obtain employment or disability benefits. Job description: Responsible for assessing individuals referred to VNSNYs Comprehensive Care Management Program by NYCs HRA to determine work readiness and eligibility through a comprehensive substance abuse assessment and evaluation. Determines exemption status, appropriate level of care and need for treatment, and refers client to treatment programs, also provides referrals to immediate services as needed including, if eligible, case management services. Works under the supervision of the Assessment Program Manager. Licensure: Valid New York State drivers license may be required as determined by operational/regional needs. Valid New York State Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential required. Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human services related field such as rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology or counseling, or equivalent work experience required. Experience: Minimum of three years experience in a human/social services required. Proficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft Windows, Word required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Bilingual skills and/or Mental Health assessment skills may be required, as determined by operational needs. Knowledge of Human Resources Administration (HRA) Systems preferred. Vocational Rehabilitation experience is preferred. CA2018Options
