We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to work in the department of the Chief Operating Officer to support implementation of the organizations Strategic Plan initiatives. Volunteers of America is located in Old Town Alexandria, VA, within walking distance of the King Street Metro. General Responsibilities: Support affiliate success through management of projects that implement strategic pillars and facilitate effective functioning of the National Board of Directors and Affiliate Chief Executive Officers (CEO) initiatives. * Support refinement of Charter Compliance through project management of a risk analysis process. * Enhance the ability to share information by further developing a web-based platform. * Support the affiliates with ability to further enhance and utilize on-training resources. * Enhance information sharing with board members and CEOs through developing electronic newsletters. * Further enhancing web-based meeting experiences. * Supporting collaboration for family focused treatment programs. * Opportunities for network building with board members and CEOS. Required Qualifications: * At least two years of post-secondary education * Passion for finding creative solutions to meet the needs of the nations most vulnerable. * Strong project management skills. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The selected interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience at the National Office in Old Town Alexandria in the Spring, Summer or Fall semesters. Whether their academic focus lies in non-profit management, external relations, finance, communications, event management or program services, Volunteers of America will work to provide the appropriate platform for students to gain and develop skills in their particular field.
