ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

At Xplor, the Central Technology Team has one main purpose: to enable and complement the business strategies and goals while solving real problems for our customers and users.

We have dozens of applications in our everyday-life verticals that all have their technology uniqueness and their individual purpose. We also use some of the latest technology in Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Containers and are constantly looking to find innovative new ways to meet the challenges of running a unique global business.

As a Data Engineering or Data Science Intern, you will work as part of the Data Engineering and Operations team who is focused on transitioning to new technologies and simplifying our technical landscape.  These internships will be involved in the following:

• sales pipelines to identify patterns in connect and/or conversion rates
• explore failure predictions and real-time fraud detection in payments
• configure chatbots for service teams and other natural language applications

You will have a buddy and an entire team to ensure you are learning, gaining experience, supporting and having fun!

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF THE INTERNSHIP?

• Ability to rotate across the team to get full exposure across several systems and approaches.
• Ability to write code, test, provide analysis and recommendations for improvements.
• Use of agile development and modern frameworks
• Exposure to data engineering and data science at an organization that continues to grow with an opportunity to work on meaningful projects at a global level

LOCATION:  This position will be a 100% work from home with virtual interactions with managers and teams globally via video meeting technologies.

INTERNSHIP:  Internships are a 9-week program, running starting June 5 through August 4th.   The internships are a 40 hour a week with standard Monday-Friday business working hours.   The hourly rate for the internship is $20/hr.  We understand that students do have family vacation time planned over the summer, the recruiting team and managers will discuss time off needs during the recruiting process to determine if that will prevent a barrier to the program. 

Qualifications

WHAT WOULD MAKE ME A GOOD CANDIDATE?   

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate computer science, data engineering, data science or relevant information technology degree
• Completed coursework and knowledge of the following:  data mining, Python and SQL
• Understanding of industry best practices data engineering and data science principals
• Ability to communicate both written and verbally effectively
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

• Experience writing code, testing and analysing results
• Knowledge, formal coursework or experience Powershell scripting and python based assets
• Knowledge, formal coursework or projects working with large scale data sets
