SCHEDULE: 20-30 hrs. per week; Monday and Wednesday evenings required

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Youth Outreach Services PSB Counseling Department provides individual, family, and group counseling to adolescent's age 14-21 who have exhibited problematic sexual behavior.  The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of recidivism in adolescents who have engaged in this behavior and prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system. This is a grant-funded program in conjunction with the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission Youth Servicing Program (JJYSP).  The program utilizes an evidence-based CBT model for group treatment.  Training and consultation for the model is provided by the National Center on Sexual Behavior in Youth (NCSBY).  Groups are conducted on Monday and Wednesday evenings which would be required hours for the intern(s).  This program is also funded partially by Medicaid and the Illinois Comprehensive Community-Based Youth Services program (CCBYS) and requires compliance with all state regulations for those programs.

Interns will gain experience in conducting sexual behavior assessments and general mental health assessments, writing treatment plans, and providing individual, family, and group counseling.  Interns are expected to maintain all documentation within the required timeframes for our funders.  There is also data collection and database entry that is necessary for the grant requirements; training will be provided.

WE ARE IN NEED OF 2-3 INTERNS FOR THE SUMMER 2002-SUMMER 2023 SCHOOL YEAR. Interns must be available a minimum of two school semesters.  Full-year interns (Fall 2022-Spring 2023) are preferred.

THERE IS SOME FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULING, HOWEVER, MONDAYS 12P-8P AND WEDNESDAY EVENINGS UNTIL AT LEAST 7:30PM ARE REQUIRED. A MINIMUM OF 20 HOURS PER WEEK IS REQUIRED.  SOME FLEXIBILITY FOR THE REMAINING HOURS IS AVAILABLE BASED ON INTERN'S CLASS SCHEDULE/SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS.  MOST OF THE COUNSELING STAFF TYPICALLY WORK MON-THURS 12P-8P AND FRIDAYS 9A-5P.

WEEKLY SUPERVISION WILL BE PROVIDED BY YOS STAFF AND IS REQUIRED EVEN IF SUPERVISION IS BEING PROVIDED THROUGH THE INTERN'S SCHOOL.  SUPERVISION IS AVAILABLE FROM LCSW, LCPC, AND LMFT STAFF CURRENTLY.  WEEKLY TEAM MEETINGS AND GROUP PLANNING MEETINGS ARE ALSO REQUIRED (HELD ON MONDAYS).  THERE IS ALSO ONGOING TRAINING AND CONSULTATION PROVIDED THROUGH OUR FUNDERS.

Staff will work from the YOS office in Dunning (6417 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL).  Appointments are a combination of in-person and telehealth (conducted while the intern is at the office; telehealth sessions cannot be conducted from the intern's home).
