    Schedule : M-F 9a-5p; some flexible scheduling possible. Some remote work option possible after introductory period as programming allows.

    We are looking for motivated, energetic individuals who are passionate about assisting adolescents in making healthy life choices!

    Position Overview:

    Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Prevention Specialist provides evidence-based prevention curriculum within select Chicago Public Schools. Works with teachers and school personnel to develop programming for specified grades. The Prevention Specialist also participates in activities designed to raise awareness of adolescent substance use, such as monthly Communication Campaigns, National Prevention Week, Drug Take Back Days, and developing and retaining a Youth Advisory Committee. Provides community education and outreach regarding the program. Attends community/partner meetings related to Prevention activities. Maintains all documentation as required by funders.

    During summer months, the Prevention Specialist will also participate in the One Summer Chicago youth employment program. Assists in identifying employers willing to place youth for employment and provide mentoring and monitoring to the youth during their employment term.

    Position Opportunities:

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in social services/public health preferred. Will consider significant experience as substitute for degree.

    • Valid driver's license and daily access to own vehicle required

    • Some experience working with adolescents in a professional capacity (teaching, mentoring, coach, counselor, etc) preferred

    • Knowledge of/prior experience in substance use and/or prevention programming preferred

    Compensation:

    · Compensation can vary based on education and experience.
    · Annual salary general range $42,000 - $46,000
