    Compass Group is selectively recruiting for a Canteen Accounting and Finance Internship opportunity within our Canteen Finance and Accounting department.

    Date of Internship: 8 - 12 weeks; 35 - 40 hour work week (Monday – Friday)

    Location: Charlotte, NC

    The Canteen Operations Summer Internship is a PAID structured 8-week program designed to strengthen your leadership skills & business acumen and give you the opportunity to test drive a career in Operations. When you join our Internship Program, you'll acquire highly marketable skills and experience pertaining to every aspect of running a successful business. You'll soon discover that every day is different because it is filled with so many new, exciting, rewarding and often unexpected challenges

    This Internship Program is a great way to jumpstart your career. Interns will work in one of a number of key areas in Canteen’s Operation team, based in Charlotte, NC which could include:

    Areas of focus: Finance/Accounting

    • Work under supervision of accountants
    • Help with reconciliation of fixed asset accounts
    • Assist with assignment of Asset Data into proprietary software
    • Support the Asset Audit team
    • Assist with communication to leadership in the field and in corporate regarding Audits
    • Scrub and analyze asset listings
    • Test and validate post-audit databases
    • Perform P&L analytics
    • Help accounting team with the other assigned work
  • Qualifications

    Targeted Skills:

    • Analytical – understands a basic level of logic (minimum able to navigate/audit excel formulas).
    • Resourcefulness – able to “figure out the answer” when none has ever been found.
    • Self-management – manages up and laterally.
    • Communication – is able to explain something difficult to a first timer.
    • Collaborative – fits in the group dynamics. Complements the rest of us.

    Education and Experience:

    • To be eligible for our internship, you should be in your junior year, on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
    • A cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.
    • All majors will be considered for this opportunity

    Language Skills:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manual

    Mathematical Skills:

    • Above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

    Reasoning Ability:

    • Ability to promote teamwork through problem-solving and managing complex relationships

    Other Qualifications:

    • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
    • Ability to work in a fast paced distribution environment while meeting established distribution quotas and standards
    • Intellectual curiosity, positive attitude, self-motivation, professional business ethics, assertiveness, and an aptitude for helping others solve problems.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the unit’s needs.
