    OVERVIEW

    ASR Group is currently seeking high potential students for our Internship Program based out of our Domino Sugar Refinery in Yonkers, New York. The purpose of the Internship Program is to introduce students or recent graduates to ASR Group through a challenging and rewarding experience, which offers them the opportunity to contribute to the Global Sugar Group's business objectives while applying business, finance, and commodity research fundamentals. Interns are assigned substantive projects and receive developmental feedback to gain a better understanding of Commodity Trading within the world's largest vertically integrated cane sugar refiner.

    DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Commodity Trading Intern will assist the GSG Team in completion of a data expansion project in our proprietary trading system.

    When the company trades, buys and sells, the purchases are entered into our Integrated Trading and Accounting System (ITAS). ITAS records Longs/Shorts and Buys/Sells & allows us to manage Daily Trading Risk Positions. We have the ability and opportunity to enter other relevant data into ITAS including country data, vessel movements, vessel names, vessel economics and costs. This will create a more robust database that we can access the next time we enter into a negotiation for a similar purchase (or sale).

    The Commodity Trading Intern will be heavily involved in the ITAS database expansion to include Quality data (by vessel, by country, etc.). Additionally, we'll look to integrate further data points for Sustainability purposes.

    WORK EXPERIENCES

    • The ideal candidate will possess strong team and analytical skills; strategic thinking skills; leadership ability; initiative and enthusiasm for work in an unstructured environment; the ability to communicate effectively, especially as part of a team.

    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to write clearly and accurately, and strong verbal communication skills are essential.

    • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

    • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, possess the ability to multi-task and exhibit responsibility, creativity and intellectual curiosity.

    EDUCATION & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Must have or be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field from an accredited college/university. You must be eligible to work in the country in which the internship is offered. Have a strong academic record (3.0 GPA or better). You must be entering your junior or senior year in college and have completed some course work toward your chosen field of study (i.e. engineering, marketing, business). Sophomores shall be considered on an exceptional basis. You must be at least 18 years old. You must be able to work a minimum of six (6) consecutive weeks during the time when the internship is offered.
