  • Responsibilities

    PURPOSE:  The purpose of this Assistant Team coach is to work closely to meet the needs and growth of, the competitive gymnastics teams in one of our larger locations - in San Jose.  The focus is on our existing Jr. Olympic and team development levels.  Experience in skill and coaching through optional level 10 would be ideal.  The right person must be prepared to lead designated levels and work to transition the athletes to higher levels using CSC ideals - and the Code of Points.  General responsibilities will also including higher level recreation classes, and team development classes, as well as student move ups and evaluation days.  This is an important leadership position working with a great team of leaders with lots of room for personal growth - professionally and financially.  We are located in the San Jose / San Francisco "south" Bay Area

    HOURS PER WEEK:  Full-time - 6 days per week.  The main  coaching hours are afternoons, evenings, and Saturday's.  Plus competition travel, planning, meetings, etc.

    PAY:  Commensurate with the background and experience of the applicant.  Additional pay is achieved for session based competitions and travel as well as private lesson income.  For full-time employees, CSC offers an excellent benefits package, a 401K retirement contribution, PTO accrual schedule and yearend bonuses based on years of service with the company.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. with  US Citizenship and proper work Visa's before an application will be considered.  Former competitive gymnastics and coaching experience is required with specific level history with USA Gymnastics or similar with a focus on Jr. Olympic gymnastics.  Must be a high energy, positive and supportive person who is excited about working with kids of all ages and levels.  Applicants must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

    TRAINING/EDUCATION:  Conditions of employment include: CPR, First Aid certification within the first 30 days and be an "active" Professional Membership with USA Gymnastics.  A BS degree in Physical Education or Kinesiology or the equivalent would be ideal, but is not required.

    SKILLS:  Excellent and proven communication and planning skills; leadership skills dealing with children; organizational skills, outgoing and energetic.  A proven spotter on skills through Level 6.

    DUTIES:  The primary duty of the position is to coach kids and prepare them for their current and future competition levels.  Proven spotting is required of all skills commensurate with the levels required.  You will promote, and demonstrate, safe and developmentally appropriate learning in positively charged ways.  We strive to support the understanding and experience aligned with Positive Coaching Alliance.  You would be a key leader working with management on the development of other assistant coaches and other coaches throughout the program. You would develop and follow lesson plans designed for your group/level within the rotation schedule with other programs - which you help develop.  Of course, as with all leaders there are many duties performed in the success of the location along with the other coaches and staff such as:

    • Assist with facility maintenance, equipment planning and safety, and general cleanliness.
    • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19
    • Communicate with fellow employees, students, and parents on a regular basis.
    • Maintain accurate roll on a daily basis for all classes/groups you are responsible for.
    • Maintain progress reports for your classes/teams.
    • Understand and follow all CSC policies and procedures; read and follow team documents; know and be involved in all aspects of the local, regional. and national USA Gymnastics program.
    • Attend community events - with athletes.
    • Attend/Teach CSC University Clinics & Labs when possible.
    • Other duties as assigned.
