    Compass Group is selectively recruiting for a Retail Operations Internship opportunity within Canteen Vending.

    The Canteen Operations Summer Internship is a PAID structured 8-week program designed to strengthen your leadership skills & business acumen and give you the opportunity to test drive a career in Operations. When you join our Internship Program, you'll acquire highly marketable skills and experience pertaining to every aspect of running a successful business. You'll soon discover that every day is different because it is filled with so many new, exciting, rewarding and often unexpected challenges.

    This Internship Program is a great way to jumpstart your career. Interns will work in one of a number of key areas in Canteen’s Operation team, based in Appleton, Wisconsin. The intern will learn and support all areas of Canteen operations including vending/OCS/micro market operations, sales, marketing, warehouse management, logistics and finance. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to apply the skills they have learned and apply them in a professional setting.

    Areas of focus:

    • Maintain proper inventory levels and product distribution.
    • Learn about and ensure product rotation to ensure freshness at designated client locations
    • Interact with clients and customers to ensure satisfaction with Canteen performance.
    • Maintaining accurate machine product and inventory data via a handheld computer.
    • Inform clients and customers of new products or services, listens to and resolves service complaints.
    • Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays or issues sales promotion materials to customers.
    • Conduct inventory reconciliation in accordance with District procedures. Perform audits as needed.
    • Support and shadow sales personnel
    • Communicate with multiple departments in order to obtain necessary information in order to complete duties listed above.
    • Building of sustainable relationships – effectively interact and collaborate with customers, team-members and technical teams, provide training for managers, and training and back-up coverage for team-members as required.
    • Perform all job functions in a safe and professional manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Upon successful completion of the internship, and with your unit’s recommendation, you may be offered a position to join us in your career after graduation as a Manager in Training Program Trainee

    Education and Experience:

    • To be eligible for our internship, you should be in your junior year, on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
    • A cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.
    • All majors will be considered for this opportunity.

    Language Skills:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manual

    Mathematical Skills:

    • Above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

    Reasoning Ability:

    • Ability to promote teamwork through problem-solving and managing complex relationships

    Other Qualifications:

    • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
    • Ability to work in a fast paced distribution environment while meeting established distribution quotas and standards
    • Intellectual curiosity, positive attitude, self-motivation, professional business ethics, assertiveness, and an aptitude for helping others solve problems.
