OVERVIEW The primary function of the Powder Mill Operator is to monitor production of soft sugar and ensure efficient function of machinery. DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES â?¢Â             Starts, stops, and observes operation of mill unit as required. This includes mixing bin, mixture hopper, powered sugar elevator, powdered sugar screw, powdered sugar supply belt, pulverizing machine, dust collectors, mills, etc. â?¢Â             Changes settings on machines as directed; opens and closes water valves and air vents. â?¢Â             Changes valves on dust collectors. â?¢Â             Regulates sugar flow from chutes into supply belt; keeps chute free flowing. â?¢Â             Cleans out any excess sugar remaining inside mill before starting unit. â?¢Â             Dumps specified amount of corn starch and tallies number of bags dumped; hauls empty bags and palette to specified area. â?¢Â             Takes, labels, and carries samples to laboratory as directed; delivers written report from laboratory to foreman. â?¢Â             Picks up empty cartons and sweeps area as required; pushes trash in truck and empties at designated area and returns empty truck; positions loaded truck in box maker area. â?¢Â             Notifies mechanics and foreman if malfunction develops that cannot be corrected by self.  WORK EXPERIENCES One year previous work experience in an industrial/manufacturing facility.  Previous experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED is required ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Lift up to 50lbs Use hands and arms to reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and manipulate materials and tools Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, and climb constantly throughout the shift Reach, bend, twist, rotate, push and pull frequently Work in confined spaces Work independently as well as a team player Climb up and down ladders Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime Must be able to perform tasks wearing required PPE such as but not limited to protective footwear, clothing, safety glasses/goggles, etc. Must regard safety as a core value; Must be able to work safe and in a proficient manner LOCATION OF ROLE: Chalmette, LA Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
