Recreation Coordinator Assistant II - Casual Salary $13.30 - $18.62 Hourly Location Grapevine, TX Job Type Casual - short assignments/no set schedule Department Parks and Recreation Dept Job Number 180812-16 Job Summary Serves as support to The REC, Active Adults, athletics, aquatics, outdoor recreation classes/camps, Lake Parks or special events. Examples of Duties Attends to the daily operation of facilities and programs including opening and closing duties and directs RCA I when necessary; assists with various recreation programs, leagues and special events. Assists with program registrations, including periods of intensive computer processing with custom registration system. Assists with program and event set up, tear down and implementation including working both inside and outside in various locations and conditions. Provides excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs. Performs and oversees the general maintenance and housekeeping duties in Parks and Recreation Department facilities and/or Grapevine/Colleyville Independent School District facilities. Ensures the safety of all spectators and participants in programs and facilities; ensures that safety protocols are being adhered to. Completes various reports and submits them to the appropriate supervisor. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work. Required Skills High school diploma, GED and 18 years of age or 2 years full-time equivalent experience as a RCA I or Instructor required. Ability to use a calculator and do basic math functions. Ability to perform cash handling duties and demonstrate an understanding of proper cash handling procedures. Must have good written and oral communication skills and be able to deal effectively with the public. Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must have physical ability to accomplish job tasks and work outdoors as required. Incumbent must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy. When assigned to Athletics: May be required to have some knowledge of general sport rules (basketball, softball, volleyball, football) Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers certification within three months of hire. Must have general knowledge of concession and food preparation. Must be able to operate a cash register, scoreboard or computer.
