We are seeking a highly motivated graduate-level student with a strong background in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches. As part of our team, you will help develop methodology to make fertilizer management recommendations to farmers. Methodology will incorporate key data layers such as soil, vegetation, water resources, weather, environmental characteristics, management practices, and crop yield by leveraging the latest tools in statistics, data science, machine learning, and geospatial analytics. What You Will Do: Develop a recommendation model around fertilizer use based on known characteristics of agricultural fields. Train and validate the model by combining data from experimental field trials with observational customer data. Explore the relative benefits of incorporating diverse data features, including soil maps, soil samples, weather, historical yield maps, remote sensing data, outputs from a deterministic physical process model, and more. Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross-functional groups. Basic Qualifications: Pursuing a MS or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related technical field from an academic institution. Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches (or equivalent). Experience with statistical analysis using programming languages such as Python or R. A drive to understand and derive meaningful insights from data and results Preferred Qualifications: Strong written and oral communication skills Experience working with large geospatial datasets Experience working with observational data Experience with machine learning methodologies, Bayesian statistics, spatial modeling, and/or causal inference Experience with SQL or other programming languages (Java and/or C++) What We Offer: Our environment is extremely engaging and fast-paced, with a diverse set of top engineers, agronomists, and statisticians working together to provide the best possible products and experiences for our customers.
