About the Opportunity This is an open position with Met-Ed, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.[ME] Partial Job Requirements (Complete requirements are outlined in the Job Specifications.) Under direct supervision does construction and maintenance work on energized secondaries and on dead primary conductors, structures and equipment. Under close supervision does work on or near energized primary conductors, structures, and equipment up to and including 5KV. Will be required to install instrument transformers; install, remove, connect or disconnect electric meters and services; and do switching of all voltages. Performs other related or lesser skilled duties for which they are qualified or have received proper instruction or direction, including driving and operation of all equipment, except bulldozers, Caterpillar tractors with front and overhead loaders, rubber-tired loaders, all types of cranes, graders, heavy duty cable plowing equipment, hydraulic digging machines, heavy duty trenchers, backhoes with front-end loader and pole hole diggers. Will be required, given the proper training, to work alone or with personnel of equal or lesser classification. Must become familiar with Companys Safety Rules, methods of resuscitation on or off the ground, and be able to render practical First Aid. Must possess a valid Automobile Operators License and must obtain a valid Commercial Drivers License or equivalent within the probationary period. Must be willing and able to work extra and/or irregular hours; under unusual or special working conditions and surroundings and away from home base for extended periods of time. Normal health, physiques and sensory functions, including color perception, near/distant visual acuity and hearing as required to perform the job duties. Strength and dexterity adequate to safely perform all the duties of this classification. Must have three years as a UC&M Apprentice (or the equivalent) As a UC&M Apprentice (4 th Year) must successfully complete the training and must complete one year of service in the Utility C&M Man-Apprentice (4 th Year) classification. As a UC&M Apprentice (4 th Year), must successfully complete the training and testing for the Utility C&M -1 st Class. Company employees who successfully bid into the EC&M AMP and fail to advance to the next level shall be reassigned within the jurisdiction of the local union to an entry-level position or any vacancy that has not been filled through posting for which he/she is qualified.
