    Compass Group is selectively recruiting for a Dining Operations Internship opportunity within our Dining Services department.

    Date of Internship: 10 – 12 weeks; 35 - 40 hour work week (Monday – Friday)

    Location: Hodgkins, IL.

    The Canteen Operations Summer Internship is a PAID structured 8-week program designed to strengthen your leadership skills & business acumen and give you the opportunity to test drive a career in Operations. When you join our Internship Program, you'll acquire highly marketable skills and experience pertaining to every aspect of running a successful business. You'll soon discover that every day is different because it is filled with so many new, exciting, rewarding and often unexpected challenges

    This Internship Program is a great way to jumpstart your career. Interns will work in one of a number of key areas in Canteen’s Operation team, based in Hodgkins, IL.

    Recipe to Succeed:

    • Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, guests, client, and associates
    • Basic knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting and computational practices
    • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications, company software, e-mail and the Internet
    • Assumes food quality & profitability
    • Completes shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards
    • Informs chef, supervisor, in a timely manner when supplies are low
    • Follows and observes all company policies and procedures
    • Follows company standards for attendance and punctuality and exhibits a sense of urgency
    • Maintains professional appearance at all times, clean and well groomed in accordance with company standards
    • Develops a positive working relationship with fellow workers and customers and avoids conflict
    • Conducts/Attends training sessions
  • Qualifications

    Necessary Ingredients:

    • Open only to students in college
    • Minimum 1 year foodservice experience
    • Computer competency in all MS Office Applications
    • Career minded and Team Player
    • 1-3 years progressive hospitality experience is desired
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or associates of organization
