    Job Description

    The IT Support Specialist’s main function is to enable ongoing business operations by providing IT support for MDS Fulfillment employees, customers, and systems. Support is provided for hardware, software, peripherals, and networks. IT Support Specialist will work closely with all MDS departments to address requests and needs efficiently. They will participate on IT projects, working with IT Management and System Administrators.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Provide desktop/laptop computer support by diagnosing and addressing hardware/software/peripheral issues.
    • Stage new computers for company use with appropriate software/settings.
    • Reload operating system and restore programs/files to original working condition.
    • Maintain operating system updates/patches.
    • Research peripheral devices and utility programs and make recommendations to IT management.
    • Troubleshoot hardware/software/peripheral issues as they arise.
    • Maintain supply of standby peripheral devices and computers to minimize down-time in the event of failure.
    • Develop and maintain standard work instructions for new hardware/software/peripheral deployment, computer lockdown, actions to take upon occurrence of typical issues, etc.
    • Develop strategy for desktop/laptop critical files backup.
    • Manage setup of new users and deactivation of accounts no longer needing access.
    • Maintain consistent communication with Operations and Customer Service to ensure issues are being addressed in a timely manner.
    • Ensure ongoing server operation by routine checking of successful batch job execution, logs, free space, etc. Monitor hardware status such as disk drive failure indicators and Uninterruptable Power Supply state. Diagnose/address network issues. Make recommendations for network peripherals/strategy.
    • Manage inventory of IT supplies and organization of server room/storage.
    • Participate in IT projects as requested by IT management. Perform coding/database tasks under the supervision of IT management.

    Preferred Knowledge

    • TCP/IP network support
    • Wi-Fi setup and support
    • Microsoft .Net development
    • SQL Server development/support

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred with minimum two years’ experience in IT support.
    • Expert knowledge of Windows is required.
    • Experience in direct desktop/laptop support, troubleshooting, remediation, and installation is required.
    • Experience with peripheral support is required.
    • Experience with Access through the current version is a plus
    • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal/written communication skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills are required as well as being a self-starter, quick learner, detail-oriented, and an excellent team player.
    • Must have the ability to work with all levels of personnel including developers, testers, support personnel, project managers, senior management, and non-technical system owners and users.
