POSITION TITLE: Public Relations Intern, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants PNW POSITION SUMMARY: Assist PR Director and PR Manager to implement media relations strategies and tactics that maximize Kimpton Seattle and Portland's exposure in print, broadcast, online and other media on a national, regional and local level. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with PR team to identify PR action items that best communicate the concepts of the hotels and restaurants. Duties are as follows but not limited to: * Assist with strategic media relations plans such as drafting pitches and brainstorming new promotional ideas for all hotels and restaurants to enhance the property reputation and to increase its visibility through the use of national, regional and local media * Research and build media outreach lists * Research and build influencer target lists * Create new and seize existing media opportunities (print, broadcast, cable and online) for hotels. * Research angles and new media outlets to help place favorable stories reflecting key messaging (including hotel's programs, policies, practices and events) in strategic, targeted media outlets. * Identify trends and the opportunities that lie within each hotel. * Assist with event planning and production * Attend monthly (or bi-monthly) Public Relations meetings with property GM's * Attend any pertinent property staff or sales meetings * Track press clippings * Assist with media reservations, media interviews, media requests, photos shoots, media drops, etc. * Handle press kit updates. * Fluent in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and other popular or emerging sites SKILLS REQUIRED: * Qualified candidates will ideally be working towards a degree in a public relations, journalism and/or communications. * Stellar verbal and written communication skills; excellent knowledge of AP-style journalistic writing and editing practices, and strong presentation skills * Experience in special event coordination * Results-oriented, self-motivated, creative and possessing a sense of humor * Self awareness of patterns and behaviors that sometimes can propel or limit success, and willingness improve personally and professionally * Ability and willingness to work in synchronicity with the PR Director and PR Manager counterpart who oversees the Seattle/Portland restaurants * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines under pressure * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to diplomatically prioritize requests * Agility and creative intellect, entrepreneurial, pragmatic and flexible in nature * Ability and willingness to follow established processes and procedures, and also work fluidly in situations where standard operating procedures do not exist * A credible and authoritative public presence * Detail oriented
