  • Responsibilities

    The Manager of HSSE Policies and Procedures manages and monitors HSSE policies and Quality programs to ensure the management system and operational processes and procedures are defined, observed and that regulatory requirements are being met.  

    • Monitors and prepares policy and procedures manuals, bulletins, and publications
    • Servers as document controller and manages version control and revision process for management system publications
    • Acts as company Intranet administrator for posting, implementation and organization of policies and procedures
    • Manages and effectively communicates with the field on applicable Safety, Security and/or Quality programs or initiatives
    • Develops departmental reports, monitors statistics and tracks trends for continuous improvement
    • Follows protocols and conducts station audits according to the program and specific audit plan as needed
    • Collaborates with Safety, Security, Training and QA teams and makes recommendations for program improvements and enhancements
    • Hosts and attends meetings and training sessions with managers as audit follow up to assist and inform of compliance requirements, recommended actions or use of Pulse system
    • Conducts training/coaching and program system technical support as needed
    • Assists on special projects and events as needed and performs other duties as required
    • Meets with customer/airline representatives when/directed as needed for HSSE and Quality related issues

     

    Required Skills

    • High School Diploma and two years or equivalent experience in airline ground handling/cargo safety, security, or training.
    • Must have strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
    • Knowledge in Quality Management systems, audit principles, procedures and methods preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of management levels, identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies in a global environment.
    • Knowledgeable in all appropriate domestic and international guidance and regulations (e.g. TSA, FAA, IATA, OSHA, CBP) pertaining to transportation operations and Worldwide Flight Services.
    • Knowledgeable in Federal Air Regulations pertaining to Worldwide Flight Services’ Passenger, Cargo and Ground Handling operations.
    • Excellent leadership and professional behavior.
    • OSHA General Industry 30 Hour Certification is preferred.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
    • Ability to use a computer and applicable MS office software.
    • Ability to work with little or no supervision and alone or as part of a dynamic team.
    • Must be able to perform the following functions in variable weather and environmental conditions:
      • Push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, crawl, or grip as necessary to demonstrate job functions and operate required equipment.
      • Work in restricted spaces as necessary to demonstrate job functions.
      • Work in a high noise level environment.
      • Tolerate dust, jet fumes, and toxic chemicals.

    Required Experience

    • Travel is approved by the Sr. VP Safety and Security North America or the VP of Training and Quality Assurance and any other required company approving official.
      • Travel required to field stations for scheduled audit visits or meetings throughout the North American network.
      • Investigate incidents/accidents/events as requested or participate in other special project work.
      • Attend meetings/conduct on-site coaching as necessary.
      • Responsible for maintaining expense reports and adhering to travel budgets.
