The Software Engineering Manager will provide strong hands-on technical leadership and management for one of our engineering teams. The incumbent will help execute a comprehensive strategy for leveraging modern technologies to develop highly available services, code, QA, and release processes. They will champion a unified architecture and work with service, front-end, and security engineering teams to drive the development and delivery of sophisticated and secure software products.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruit, train, and mentor a team of engineers.
• Estimate engineering tasks. Participate in forming roadmaps and sprint plans.
• Research technology and patterns.
• Provide recommendations and make decisions on technology choices in their area.
• Provide peer review of code changes for other team members.
• Design and implement software services and automation.
• Provide on-call 24/7 support for their services.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Four (4) years experience as a software engineer delivering online services.
• Expert-level skills in Java, C#, C++, or another high-level object-oriented language.
• Experience with Agile software development.

PREFERRED:

• One (1) year experience as an engineering manager.
• Strong knowledge of encryption, security, authentication, and authorization concepts.
• Three (3) years experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Public Cloud.
• Certifications as an Azure or AWS Solution Architect.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated passion for quality and service health.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, design patterns, RESTful services, service availability concepts.
• Excellent knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
