  • Responsibilities

    Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert are private residential camps in the Brainerd Area of Northern Minnesota (145 miles north of Minneapolis). The two camps are located on the same lake across from each other. We serve children ages 7 to 17 who come from all across the country and around the world.

    Our season runs about 12 weeks, but campers attend for 1, 2, 3 or 4 week sessions. Our staff usually range in age from 19 to 30 plus. Our season begins in late May with camp preparation work and runs through the end of August.

    Counselor: Camp’s core cabin staff position. Each Cabin contains typically 16-22 campers and 4-6 staff. Counselors are members of the cabin staff team responsible for campers in an assigned cabin and a specific chalet group within that cabin. You will be responsible for that same cabin group for 4-8 weeks.

    Head Counselor: Head Counselors are the designated leadership staff member of each cabin. A Head Counselor is responsible for the campers and staff within an assigned cabin and a specific chalet group in that cabin as well. Head Counselors can expect to be responsible for the same cabin group for 4-8 weeks.

    Activity Leader: Each Activity Area at Camp Lincoln & Camp Lake Hubert requires a Director to lead that program. Activity leaders are needed in many different activity areas as listed below.

    Activity leader responsibilities include:

    • The overall operation of that area, programming, developing and implementing lesson plans, camper instruction, setting and enforcing safety rules
    • Record keeping, evaluation of campers
    • Overseeing staff assigned to assist in the area
    • Camper award systems
    • Equipment and supply care, maintenance
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures
    • Staff training

    We are looking for activity leaders in numerous areas including: Sailing, Horseback Riding, Archery, Riflery, High Ropes, Climbing Wall, Arts and Crafts, Waterfront (Head Lifeguard), Windsurfing, Outdoor Camping, Photography, Mountain Biking, Radio/Podcasting, Baseball, Basketball, Dance, Drama, Ecology, Fishing, Fitness, Golf, Guitar, Gymnastics, Kayaking, Lacrosse, Martial Arts, Pottery, Rowing, Tennis, and Trapshooting.

    Responsibilities includes overall care of campers and cabin as well as correspondence with parents, enforcing safety rules, leading events, teaching activities, monitoring campers in the dining hall, equipment & supply care, knowledge of emergency procedures, record keeping, and ensuring that the campers in your cabin have the greatest summer of their lives!

    Head Counselor Responsibilities include the overall leadership, supervision, and care of the campers and staff in the cabin. Head Counselors are also typically expected to take on a leadership role within their division, while also completing the basic duties of a general counselor.

    Compensation: Pay begins at $2,200 plus room and board and advances VERY quickly based on availability for the summer.
