The internship is mutually beneficial - the student experiences Marcus Hotels and Resorts first-hand, and Marcus is given the opportunity to view the student's potential for possible future employment. This is a working internship that is responsible for guest satisfaction operations to meet hotels high standards of quality. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This internship will provide hospitality students with hands-on work experience in the Marketing and/or Sales Operation. The internship will generate interest in The Lincoln Cornhusker Marriott Hotel and Miller Time Pub & Grill through creating content to be used on websites (and others) that tells our story. A secondary goal is to position The Cornhusker to lead the Lincoln hotel industry in information about weddings in Lincoln, NE and becoming an influencer for answers to the questions that Lincoln brides/grooms have about weddings. Assignments are based upon the student's interests and abilities, the hotel's need, and the responsibilities of the position available. Interns may be required to complete a workbook that guides them through an exploration of the Marcus Leadership Program for the Sales & Marketing division. _Takeaways from the Rooms Division Internship: _ 1. Attain working experience and become familiar with any combination of Administrative support in the Sales and/or Marketing department. 2. Participate in the development and execution of comprehensive internal and external marketing plans for the hotel and food and beverage outlets focused on digital advertising, social media, and public relations. 3. Produce internal and external marketing for the hotel, keeping with the style, design and professionalism, consistent with Marriott International standards and Marcus Hotels & Resorts specifications. 4. Produce internal and external marketing for the food and beverage outlets, keeping with the style, design and professionalism, consistent with Marriott International, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, and Starbucks Corporate specifications. 5. Assist with 4 total entities (Hotel, MTPG, The Café and Barista Counter) social media campaigns, including content creation, scheduling and tracking. 6. Maintain current and accurate information on all web-site associated with the hotel and MTPG as it pertains to new content and SEO updates, including but not limited to M.com, M.com modules, Social Media Websites and possibly Online Travel Agencies (OTA) sites. 7. Assist creating of a landing page through WordPress for posting wedding and hotel materials for us to become the Lincoln Wedding Experts. 8. Help with ERS Photo-shoot in July. 9. Create and manage digital content for the hotel and food and beverage outlets, including posts, videos, blog posts and help with menu revisions. 10. Work with the hotel sales and event team and hotel leadership to identify topics that can be used in social media posts, videos and blog posts that will drive brand awareness and interaction. 11. Participate in marketing meetings and attend in customer events as needed. 12. Liaison between property and social media outlets. 13. Manage all analytical tools and environments to assure proper campaign attribution and proper integration of all hosted and managed campaigns. 14. Grow into creating and managing press releases as directed by the Marketing Manager, DOS, and/or GM. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. 16. Overview of the organizational structure in the Sales and Marketing division, and exposure to various management & leadership styles. 17. Attend various departmental meetings and attain an overview of general hotel information. 18. Recommend measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety. _MISCELLANEOUS: ___ · This internship will begin in June 2018, and is scheduled to end in August 2018. · Interns are employed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, and working their internship at The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel and/or Miller Time Pub and Grill. Hourly pay will be at the rate for each specific position worked. Interns are required to keep detailed records of any tips received. · Students must provide their own transportation. Housing is NOT provided during this internship. · The departmental managers will directly supervise the interns. A formal evaluation will occur at the end of the internship. Marcus Hotels & Resorts will participate with the academic institution in complying with their student evaluations, etc., whenever possible. Any academic credit earned for the student should be handled by the student directly with the school. **** POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Marcus Hotels & Resorts is looking for the best internship candidates available. We are looking for the following types of hotel and restaurant management students: 1. High School diploma required. Participation in a hospitality program at an accredited university strongly preferred. Any combination of education and training within a hotels sales and/or marketing or communication arts may also be considered. 2. Must be able to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work schedules that reflect the business needs of the hotel, and assist with events that have a marketing value. 3. Ability to respond quickly and accurately to various requests. Ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently. Strong planning and organization skills. Must be self-motivated and able to meet multiple deadlines. 4. Must be able to represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner. 5. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language. Considerable knowledge of basic computer operations and software. Must be very comfortable using computers and the intranet. Experience with email and social media (Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and similar) is desired. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required. 6. Finger/hand dexterity in order to operate equipment. Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations; distinguish product, texture, and presentation; and observe preparation. Must be able to use all cleaning equipment and materials. 7.
