The Activities Leader is responsible for the activities and programming for the residents of the Otterbein Cridersville Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Post-Acute/Rehab areas. The primary responsibility is to create an environment within the community that provides opportunity for the residents to enjoy the highest quality of life. Responsibilities The Activities Leader is responsible for the following:Assist with the planning, organizing and implementing of a comprehensive program of activities, both within the facility and outside the facility, to stimulate and promote interest and general well-being for all residentsPrepare the monthly calendar of events with new and innovative programming, as well as traditional events, which cover recreation and intellectual/educational development for the Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Post-Acute/Rehab areasAssist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly newsletterDistribute mail, newspapers and other periodicalsMaintains accurate resident records Qualifications Education: Post-Secondary education with concentration in activities leadership, geriatrics or counseling is preferred. License or Certification: Completion of State approved training course (MEPAP I and MEPAP II) is preferred. Activity Director Certification (NCCAP certification) is preferred, but not requried. Experience: One to two years experience in a social recreational program, preferably in a healthcare based patient activities program is preferred. Special Skills and Requirements:Must possess a caring, compassionate, energetic personality and a desire to provide entertaining and stimulating activities to enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of residentsMust have experience in implementing a broad activity program to meet resident needsMust be able to plan, direct and carry out a program which covers recreation and educational developmentMust be detail oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilitiesMust be willing to drive the bus for resident outings
