  • Responsibilities

    Ramp Services Manager is responsible for the profitable, compliant, and safe day-today management and servicing of a specific customer contract at station. The position is responsible and accountable for efficient, effective, and productive execution of prescribed Methods and Procedures of customer operations plans, ensuring on-time delivery. The position is also responsible and accountable for establishing and maintaining good customer relations and promoting the best interests of Worldwide Flight Services (WFS). The position is accountable at all times, whether present or not, for every activity of the contract.

    This is an EXEMPT MANAGEMENT POSITION in which overtime is both expected and inherent. The hours are flexible, but the Manager must be present and/or available for all operations as required.

    Working conditions may include either indoor or outdoor work, depending on station/operation type, with outdoor operations in any and all weather conditions at the airport/terminal.

    Job breakdown is APPROXIMATE as follows:

    1. REPORTING STRUCTURE:

     Reports directly to Operations Manager, indirectly to General Manager.

     REQUIREMENTS

    EQUIPMENT USED – OFFICE

    Computer, Telephone, Fax, Copier

    EQUIPMENT USED – CARGO/WAREHOUSE/RAMP

    Must be knowledgeable and proficient in operating every type and model of equipment assigned to the station.

    Required Skills

     

    1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    2. Manage/Supervise contract operation according to operation type:

      1. Establish a management structure with accountability by Supervisors and Leads
      2. Safe and timely execution of operations plan as per customer contract, to include loading/unloading of trailers, aircraft, feeders as appropriate to station type(s). Customer’s operational plan, provided by the customer, will change from time to time.
      3. Knows how to perform functions of all positions reporting to the Contract Manager.
      4. Insure compliance with all safety procedures and processes.
      5. Supervise scheduling, and randomly supervise shifts, matching workforce to workload in compliance with customer plan.
      6. Develop contingency operational plan with the customer.
      7. Develop procedures for interface with customer for normal handling and problem handling
      8. Supervise and assign work to all positions in the contract.
    3. Supervise orientation and training:

      1. Ensure new hire orientation and operational procedures training, customer operations plan and safety procedure.
      2. Conduct on-going training and certification in the usage of all equipment as listed.
      3. Certify all new hires on each piece of equipment. Maintain current “skills inventory” at station site and re-certify yearly.
      4. Conduct procedures and hazardous materials testing for new hires and re-certify yearly
    4. Manager Customer Service, satisfaction, and public relations:

      1. Ensure compliance by WFS with customer contract.
      2. Visit customer as needed, to include customer and warehouse offices.
      3. Think ahead of customer – anticipate problems, and issues.
      4. Maintain high degree of interaction with customer, maintain good customer relations.
    5. Adhere to all airport and facility regulations regarding proper security and identification procedures, including correct escort and security identification badge/challenge responsibilities.

    6. Comply with all safety regulations, methods and procedures, required by WFS, customers, airport and applicable governmental agencies.

    7. Comply with WFS policy for reporting injuries, incidents, damage and theft:

      1. REPORT ALL injuries, accidents, incidents, damage and theft IMMEDIATELY TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, STATION SAFETY ADVISOR, HR ADMINISTRATOR.
      2. Disciplinary action, up to and including termination, for non-reporting of any of above.
      3. Insure that proper Drug Test(s) with chain of custody is/are performed upon each occurrence.
    8. Comply with general requirements, including, but not limited to:

      1. Availability to work all shifts, including, but not limited to, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
      2. Ability to lift 50 pounds without any assistance.
      3. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for the state in which the employee works.

    Required Experience

    Education: HSG + College preferred

    Business/Military experience: Totaling 5-8 years

    Airline/Military Freight/Passenger Industry, Warehouse, or Postal Experience (as appropriate to position/station type): 3years

    Computer Literacy: Required – Moderate Windows, MSOffice (Word, Outlook, Excel)

    Preferred: Some Fedex or UPS experience for Cargo Station
