    Job Description

    The Rental Retail Store Manager leads all aspects of daily rental and retail operations, ensuring every guest receives a high-quality, personalized experience. This role champions a service-driven culture by guiding and supporting a high-performing team, driving sales, and maintaining a clean, organized, and guest-ready environment. With a focus on both financial performance and operational excellence, the Store Manager fosters a welcoming, energized atmosphere where team members thrive and guests feel genuinely valued. This position reports to the Rental Retail General Manager.

    • The budgeted salary range for this position is $64,719 to $77,663. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Coach and support staff to recommend the right gear, apparel, and accessories based on each guest’s ability level, interests, and needs
    • Maintain a well-stocked, well-sized rental fleet and retail inventory to meet daily operational and guest demand
    • Manage product flow by ordering from the warehouse, coordinating with other stores, and sourcing substitutions when needed
    • Oversee merchandising standards by ensuring product is fronted, restocked, and displayed in alignment with visual guidelines
    • Ensure accurate and efficient use of all rental and retail point-of-sale systems
    • Lead proper handling of liability issues by overseeing documentation, product testing, and coordination with the legal department
    • Resolve guest concerns or product returns promptly and professionally to uphold service standards and promote return business
    • Enforce loss prevention policies and monitor for inventory and cash handling accuracy
    • Oversee employee scheduling, task assignments, and on-the-floor supervision to ensure a productive and guest-focused team environment
    • Manage payroll and timekeeping to ensure accurate pay and compliance with labor guidelines
    • Lead hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and documentation of employee performance or disciplinary actions

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    **Education & Experience Requirements **

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in rental or retail operations required, with preference for winter sports or outdoor recreation settings
    • Proven track record of successfully managing teams and driving sales in a fast-paced retail or rental environment preferred

    **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities **

    • Certified or willing to become certified in ski binding torque testing and DIN settings
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and other relevant retail and rental software
    • Strong knowledge of industry trends and best practices, with the ability to apply them within the company context
    • Thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, and internal workflows
    • Skilled in employee management including performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and team motivation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages a plus
    • Proven ability to lead, provide clear direction, and inspire team members to achieve goals
    • Capable of identifying and resolving straightforward operational issues promptly
    • Effective mediator able to resolve conflicts and maintain team cohesion
    • Skilled at handling difficult customer interactions to ensure high guest satisfaction
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects efficiently without compromising quality
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, guest-centered solutions

    Additional Information

    Work Environment & Physical Demands

    • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
    • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions, however, some exposure to outdoor elements and or walking on slippery/uneven surfaces may be required
    • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
