Team Sheeper, Inc. is headquartered in Menlo Park, CA at Burgess. We have additional locations in Menlo Park and Palo Alto. We are community driven and we offer a variety of programs for both adults and children, including swim lessons, youth swim team, triathlete training, aqua fit programs, and summer and boot camps. We are looking for Seasonal/Part-Time  Lifeguard/Swim Instructors (Dual Role) to work at our Belle Haven pool!

If you are not currently a certified lifeguard we can train you! You must be able to meet the requirements for taking lifeguard training include being able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, and retrieve a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the pool.

Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the clients at the pool. The position requires interacting with clients, parents and their children, and the public. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and top-notch, professional communication. Lifeguards should be able to work in a cooperative team environment. Position requires responsible, consistent, focused, hard-working, and attentive individuals.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor (Dual Role) can work as little as 10 hours per week and up to 30 hours per week depending on availability! 

LIFEGUARD RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
• Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
• Performs various maintenance and cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
• Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
• Other duties as assigned.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to teach proper swimming techniques in a safe, positive and healthy manner to a various levels and age groups in accordance with the companies instructional guidelines

• Observes students during class to detect and correct mistakes

• Engage participants in a fun dynamic class

• Responsible for set-up and clean-up of lesson area

• Ability to keep accurate progress records of participants

• Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.

• Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates

• Excellent communication skills

• Attend staff and training meetings as required

LIFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS:

• Current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications preferred 
• Title 22 Certification preferred, but not required
• Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously 
• Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
• Must be self-disciplined, responsible and alert
• Assertive, courteous, and professional behavior
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be punctual

SWIM INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to interact with participants and parents in a professional and positive manner
• Must be an effective communicator with students and parents as appropriate
• Must be flexible to work and afternoon/evening shifts
• Must be a customer service oriented team player
• Experience working with children and creating a positive environment for their development is a plus
• Must be punctual
