Communications Intern will work with a wide range of employees within Wendys to support CSR and Values content on wendys.com. This role will also work alongside our Brand Communications and Public Relations teams. Our internship opportunities are based out of our Dublin, Ohio Restaurant Support Center (headquarters). You will gain exposure to, learn from, and have the opportunity to work with industry-leading professionals within and outside of the Operations Department, including members of leadership. As a Wendys intern, you will be involved in key initiatives driving our business and the function forward. You will be expected to not just work under the instruction of your manager, but to exhibit initiative and creative problem solving in pursuit of your goals and tasks. Your 10-12 weeks with us will be unique and personalized based not only on our business needs, but also on your personal interests & development goals. Specific Responsibilities Include 1. Primary responsibilities Website support for CSR and Values content on wendys.com 1. Lead redesign of the Daves Legacy & The Wendys Story Pages on wendys.com 1. Under the direction of the Manager of Brand & CSR Communications: 1. Participate in brainstorm and workshop sessions with the 90 Degree Labs web design team, and Communications team members 2. Develop 8-12 week project plan to refresh website copy, evaluate other leading brands approach to similar content, coordinate new/revised images for each story element. 3. Ideate on and create new process for collecting new timeline stories on an annual basis for the communications team to implement 2. Support Redesign of Quality Food, Nutrition and Health, and Animal Welfare sections of wendys.com (Corporate Social Responsibility sections) 1. Attend all strategy sessions with Communications team members and outside PR agency for development of these pages. 2. Review content, advise on strategy, support research and edit/write content when needed. 3. Advise on templates to transfer content from PDFs to website form 2. Secondary responsibilities 1. Brand Communications/Public Relations 1. News Releases, Key Messages and Media Relations Strategy: Assist with drafting news releases, franchisee toolkits to activate programs locally and other media relations needs. 2. The Square Deal: Stage blog content on The Square Deal for Manager of Brand Comms approval and publishing; Assist with blog content research and drafting 3. Linked In: Post news releases and blogs on Companys Linked In page. Write original content. 4. NCAA Sponsorship: Support crew engagement program (and apparel) during NCAA College Football Tailgate program (late summer) 2. Internal Communications 1. Review and publish internal communications via system emails, Intranet (WeConnect) and Internal social media (Yammer) This position will be based at The Wendy's Company headquarters in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus, OH.
