    Position: Director of Engineering Location: Fairport, NY, US Key Responsibilities: • Lead the Engineering Department: Manage a team responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical infrastructure, including building structure, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and grounds. • Hands-On Management: Regularly inspect all areas under your purview, ensuring they meet the highest standards and providing necessary training to your team. • Team Leadership: Foster a culture of excellence where team members are motivated to learn, grow, and deliver exceptional guest experiences. • Financial Oversight: Establish departmental standards and procedures, monitor operational and financial performance, and actively contribute to budget planning. • Asset Protection: Safeguard the hotel's assets by overseeing maintenance needs, managing supply levels, and participating in capital projects as needed. • Managerial Duties: Be prepared to serve as the Manager on Duty when required. Responsibilities: • Oversee all aspects of engineering concerns at the property and 9-hole golf course • Follow up and communicate effectively at all levels including general managers, other engineers, and owners • Routine Maintenance Oversight- ensuring that all PMs are done and we are preventing issues before their appearance • Health and Safety Compliance forefront in all actions that are taken • Ability to work under stressful situations and deadlines • Knowledge of contractors and vendors to assist with larger-scale projects Qualifications: • This role requires at least ten years of progressive experience in a related field with previous supervisory experience required and customer service and hotel experience preferred • At least five years of practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical) is also strongly preferred, as is any license the property may require • This position must have previous experience with budgeting as well as a good working knowledge of the various Microsoft software programs utilized at the hotel. The ability to work with and train the team on the various tools utilized in the department is also key • To be successful in this role, you must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, hotel management, and -- if required -- ownership. Physical requirements include the ability to perform heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects • The role also requires the ability to stand for long periods and walk long distances as well as the ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body and arms and the ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels. You must have near vision - the ability to see details at close range and must be able to climb stairs and descend stairs in a timely fashion without fatigue as well as the ability to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises • Long work hours are sometimes required. Work will be under variable temperature conditions and noise levels and will be both outdoors and indoors (including potentially on roofs). Work will also be around chemicals, fumes, and/or odor hazards as well as around dust and/or mite hazards Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000
