    Halfaker has an opening for a SENIOR SOFTWARE TESTER (AUTOMATION TEST LEAD) to join our talented, dynamic team. The key responsibilities for this position include:

     

    • Develop the overall strategy for testing and oversee the development and implementation of a master test plan including automated (and manual) testing capabilities for program execution and data validation 
    • Perform hands on testing including test script development (code), root cause analysis / diagnosis of issues that occur on testing and production systems
    • Lead the design and architecture of automated test harnesses and frameworks that stretches across an enterprise data analytics platform
    • Lead test case creation and hands-on testing of complex features and large data sets
    • Define testing strategy and write test plans for new/changed features 
    • Initiate and participate in code reviews and data architecture 
    • Mentor Test Engineers and provide task management as required 
    • Use standard Testing, and Defect Management tools (e.g. Jira) to create and manage test cases, test scripts, test results, and defects and provide traceability back to requirements 
    • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, customers, and other testers in an Agile Scrum environment

     

    Required Skills

    • Experience writing a master test plan that encompasses both manual testing and test automation, and onboarding a team of testers to use it 
    • Hands-on experience developing software tests for functional and non-functional testing that include automated, ad-hoc, and manual testing elements, spanning program execution and data validation 
    • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment and using DevOps, and Test or Behavior Driven Development 
    • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Build and Continuous Deployment Practice, Tools and trends
    • Experience with performance testing tools including LoadNinja and JMeter
    • Experience overseeing the use of defect tracking tools for a team of developers (e.g., how to structure information stored in it, required information to store in the tool, when in the lifecycle to update the tool) 
    • Must have experience testing both functional and non-functional requirements (Section 508, security, etc.) 
    • Ability to create test scripts for metadata driven ETL processes, database procedures and analytics front-ends
    • Ability to develop LOEs for testing tasks (e.g., manual testing, creating code for test scripts, etc.) 
    • Experience mentoring a team of testers, and managing their daily work activities 
    • Must be able to write automated test scripts using one or more programming languages (.NET, Python, PowerShell, SQL)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Excellent technical problem-solving and debugging skills 
    • Strong skills in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work 
    • Strong attention to detail and thorough in completing tasks 
    • Strong time management and coordination skills, and ability to adjust in fast-paced environment 
    • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work within a team
    • Familiar with Visual Studio, Selenium, Git, nUnit, and REST

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline

    • 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

    5+ years of relevant experience
