    POSITION DETAILS

    Stewards Individual Placements (SIP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.

     

    SIP in partnership with the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is hiring an intern to help identify and apply for foundation grants, support individual giving efforts, and help us diversify our revenue through corporation sponsorships and events. This position is ideal for self-starters and fast learners who have good writing skills, a love of sharing stories and great attention to detail. Must work well in a collaborative team environment and on their own. A commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is required. This will give you the experience and skills needed to jumpstart a career in communications, community engagement, event planning, urban studies, graphic design, and fundraising. Also, you should enjoy having a total blast while working in a setting made for Instagram! Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is a national park site featuring historic ponds filled with lotus, water lilies and wild habitat, offering a unique respite in our capital city. Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is dedicated to ensuring the Gardens are well-maintained, well-enjoyed, and welcoming for neighbors and visitors. They do this by connecting people to the Gardens through stewardship, public engagement, and educational programs. The neighborhoods surrounding the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens have been systemically harmed and overlooked for decades, leaving residents with few avenues for economic, professional, or personal mobility. Neighbors, however, have long desired for the Gardens to play a larger role in improving their quality of life.

     

    VISTA will: -Develop and implement a year-long fundraising plan, including grant funding, individuals and corporations -Develop and document processes for receiving donations and properly thanking and recording gifts -Identify and pursue sustaining sources of grant funding, providing a tracking system for continual use -Develop materials (brochures, fliers, etc) for event and corporate sponsorship -Engage community to understand what to invest in to attract more park neighbors -Promote the park among a diverse audience of affinity groups, neighborhood groups and associations, schools, alumni associations, churches, and more. -Evaluate fundraising efforts, by tracking on baseline metrics and providing quarterly reports
