We manage over 500 vacation rental homes on Hatteras Island. The rental homes we manage are primarily beach houses and condominiums located on the Atlantic Ocean and the Pamlico Sound. Our busy season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day when we host thousands of vacationing guests. Our internship program lasts for 12 weeks from May 15- August 7, 2018. Our Interns can expect to work in Guest Services, Housekeeping and the Maintenance Departments to get a full understanding of our industry. Job duties will include: Guest Services 45%of time Responsible for answering all guest inquiries, complaints and requests. The guest services department is the central communication hub for the efficient operation of the property. 1. Book reservations for guests and owners, process check-in/check-out of guests, collect rent money, process any guest credits and/or charges, etc. Act as advocate for guests during their stay including efficient processing of all guest inquiries and/or complaints to appropriate personnel in order to maintain the highest level of guest satisfaction during their stay. 2. Responsible for key control and daily cash reports. 3. Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, recording, mailing, and computer data input processing as necessary. 4. Assemble arrival packets. Housekeeping Inspection 45%of time Conduct examination of property units in accordance with approved housekeeping check-lists to ensure the property units meet Hatteras Realtys standards for cleanliness. 1. Perform daily arrival inspections as assigned by Housekeeping Coordinator/Supervisor and inform designated personnel (Guest Services, Supervisor, etc.) when units become available for arrivals. Informs Housekeeping Coordinator/Supervisor if unit does not meet cleanliness standard and if housekeeper or housekeeping vendor needs to return to complete the service. Complete minor cleaning services as needed. 2. Check unoccupied units for proper thermostat settings, lights turned off, unauthorized use of rooms, maintenance deficiencies, etc. 3. Check carry-over units for thermostat settings, lights turned off, door and windows locked. Strip unit of garbage and linens. 4. Record and report all maintenance deficiencies. 5. Ensure that home windows and doors are secured (closed/locked.) 6. Report dirty linens that need to be picked up to the Housekeeping Coordinator/Supervisor. 7. Perform Housekeeping duties as required when business necessitates additional assistance in cleaning units. 8. Pack amenity bags for the vendors for daily departure cleans. 9. Roll and pack linen to distribute to homes for daily departure cleans. 10. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, batteries to remotes, programming universal remotes to devices, tightening screws, changing a/c filters and other small tasks. 11. Unpack new inventory in the inventory room when orders arrive and also help with stocking inventory into vehicles Miscellaneous Duties 10%of time *May include one or more of the following tasks depending on the property needs during the internship. 1. Homeowner Liaison Communicate with Owners regarding their rental unit as needed. 2. Assistant Operations Team as needed. Qualifications We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, customer service driven college students, majoring in hospitality and recreation, to join Hatteras Realty by Wyndham Vacation Rentals for an educational summer internship full of excitement! We will first consider seniors and then juniors. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required and previous customer service and/or recreation experience is preferred. Qualified candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Excellent customer service skills and prior experience is preferred.
