    Job Description

    Acara Solutions is seeking a talented SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGER for a position with a microchip manufacturing company in SAN JOSE, CA. This opportunity is a 12 to 18 month contract assignment with the potential to become a full time, direct employee. THIS POSITION IS 3 DAYS ONSITE AND 2 DAYS REMOTE. 

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    THE SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGER is responsible for engineering and technical disciplines for specific functions of the tool software development. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. The mission is to manage and deliver quality software that satisfy the customer requirement on time and on budget, while balancing the project triple constraint and managing project risks and stakeholders.

    • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects.
    • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status.
    • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
    • Manage risks and (internal) customer requirements.
    • Define deliverables for engineers.
    • Hold regular meetings to provide information, identify interdependencies, secure cross -sector alignment and agreements.
    • Manage project structure.
    • Set up a team structure that reflects the work content.
    • Work with architects to define the project scope and required budget.
    • Understand proper escalation paths and act accordingly.
    • Understand how own module links to the total machine.
    • Respond to requests for changes with impact assessment and secure program agreements before accepting changes.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience with new product and software development
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with or managing one of the following software areas: equipment system control, image processing algorithm, Windows UI, software testing and releasing.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree
    • Experience with semiconductors
