    As a member of the Web team, this position participates in the frontend development and maintenance of the university’s public website and internal tools using standards-based HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript. This position also provides supervision to interns and collaborates with divisional teams, specialists, and freelancers.

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Three years in n back- and front-end web development— designing, building, and maintaining accessible, responsive websites.
    • Skilled at hand-coding.
    • Subject-matter expert in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Committed to a web that works for everyone.

     

    PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Use advanced, standards-based HTML/Sass/CSS to implement and maintain responsive designs and content.
    • Enhance the user experience with custom or third-party JavaScript libraries as appropriate.
    • Build HTML email templates, testing compatibility with multiple email clients, and prepare files for review and delivery through third-party vendors or web-based email tools.
    • Make simple updates to PHP code as necessary.
    • Work with Strategic Communication and Engagement leadership and divisional team members to obtain, clarify, and implement project specifications for web content and design.
    • Work closely with web development staff to accomplish shared team responsibilities; maintain consistency of site code, structure, and content; and brainstorm solutions to technological business challenges that impact the university website.
    • Stay current with trends and best practices in web technology that inform recommendations and day-to-day implementation decisions in order to improve the user's experience with APU's online presence.
    • Stay current with APU’s brand guidelines, and ensure consistency across projects.
    • Responsible for reviewing code to identify, suggest, and repair potential solutions for accessibility barriers based on WCAG as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, and other accessibility related laws.
    • Analyze websites for WCAG compliance using manual testing, automated tools, and assistive technologies.
    • Build tools and components with PHP and JavaScript to automate and improve workflow processes for account teams
    • Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
    • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
    • Other duties as required by the supervisor.

     

    SKILLS

    • Experienced in cross-browser, responsive web development using standards-based HTML/Sass/CSS.
    • Working knowledge of PHP.
    • Experience integrating/using third party API’s/libraries is a plus.
    • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, such as React.
    • Experience with git (version control system) a plus.
    • Familiar with a Linux-based web server environment and comfortable developing on Mac workstations using SSH and SFTP.
    • Excellent communication skills and a good work ethic.

    COMPENSATION

    • Grade 11: $28.53-$37.09/hourly
    • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

    • Data Management, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Quality, Analyzing and translating the business requirement to functional & technical requirements. 
    • Expert using data governance technologies such as Collibra or Informatica EDC
    • Defined and implemented information lifecycle management practices
    • Strong background and working knowledge in end-to-end data management principles
    • Strong background in developing and utilizing tools that prepare, extract and manipulate data to create connected datasets (data warehousing) that can be utilized for analytics purposes.
    • Strong background and working knowledge of data quality improvements
    • Strong communicator at the technical levels
    • Experience in translating technical terms into business terms
    • Experience discussing complex and new topics in a simple, easy-to-understand way
    • Demonstrated teamwork skills
    • Strong, demonstrated writing and presentation skills
