    Details

    Develop and lead a team consisting of Benefit Coordinator and Analyst(s) in the day to day administration and execution of benefit plans and processes.

    You will develop and execute the strategy, design, process and administration/management of all Health and Welfare Management plans for the US associate population including Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision, Spending Account Plans, Disability, Life, Wellness, Optional Protections Programs and COBRA, Retiree Medical.

    You will be responsible for the vendor management oversight for the Canadian locations.

    Actively participate as a leader in the development and selection of vendors through the RFI / RFP process and continue through vendor selection and implementation.

    Once decisions are finalized, manage the implementation of all changes, which includes working with benefits administrator, actuarial consultants, plan managers and vendors as well as changes to any communications, including Summary Plan Document changes. Also includes analyzing and providing rate information, communications and changes to plans and processes and testing.

    Oversee and in some cases directly develop benefit related communications. For those communications not directly developed oversee for content accuracy and clarity for the intended audience.

    Develop, participate in or oversee the monitoring and tracking of claim payments including managing plan providers, address provider escalations and appeals and continuously ensure that benefits are set up and paid in accordance with the plan, processes and policies.

    Establish effective audit practices for benefits programs and participate or oversee execution of audits to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, plan audits, required filings and ERISA appeals.

    Serve as subject matter expert and business liaison for multiple union negotiations in a collective bargaining environment.

    You may be requested to participate in HR cross-functional projects to provide Benefits insight.

    Analyze plan performance and present benefit recommendations to management in preparation for annual changes, which includes full understanding of the plan and processes, analysis of plan performance and costs and creating a consolidated recommendation.

    Create, analyze and distribute any needed reporting from HRIS system, Benefits Administration System, as well as any specific vendor provided reporting. Able to extract data and present in clear and logical summaries for business leaders.

    Establish and conduct periodic benefit surveys, compile benefits related statistics and census data. Utilize statistics data and other resource information to summarize in management report to support benefits recommendations and management information needs.

    Position will require 20% average business travel annually.

    Working Relationships

    Internal HR Professionals to ensure plans are well-understood, utilized, performing and compliant. Will have daily contact with internal HR and colleagues on benefit administration, processes, interpretation and integration of benefit programs.

    Serve as Internal Subject Matter Expert for Union Negotiations

    External Consultants and benefit plan providers, benefit administrator and internal teams to Ensure that benefits are being provided in accordance with plans

    Internal and External Legal Counsel to ensure compliance with legal aspects of the benefit plans, contracts, and participant issues are resolved.

    Requirements

    Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

    Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in benefits corporate benefits design and development some of which must have included managing collectively bargained benefits plans. Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions and professional work experience in a trans-formative environment is considered a plus.

    People & project management experience, involving multiple projects as a project leader or subject matter expert.

    Must have excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex cost and financial analysis.

    Must have ability to utilize personal computer and software in developing spreadsheets and documents: Microsoft Word, Excel (Power User level) PowerPoint. Experience with various benefit software programs and ADP.

     Must be flexible, agile, and adaptable.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively present complex and analytical information in an understandable manner.

    Ability to think strategically and execute tactics including managing multiple high priority initiatives and implementations simultaneously.

    Excellent organization and project management skills.

    Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills in interacting with a wide range of internal and external customers/clients.
