    Marketing and Events Coordinator (Buddy Holly Center) Salary $36,150.40 Annually Location Lubbock, TX Job Type Full-Time Department Community Services Job Number M294-5219 Closing 1/11/2019 5:00 PM Central Summary Develops, implements, and manages special events at the municipal museums. Promotes the municipal museums to organizations and the public. Performs job duties in a way that promotes a positive image of the City organization and the department; demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and delivers exemplary customer service. Essential Functions It is an essential function of this classification to report for work at the assigned time ready to perform the duties required of the position. The following is intended to be descriptive of the principal duties of a class of positions. A specific position may: Respond to initial inquiries from organizations and the public regarding availability and type of facilities, rental rates, rental policies and procedures; Oversee preparation and mailing of lessees contracts; enforce contract regulations and guidelines; Coordinate promotional activities such as online and hard copy newsletters, press releases, mobile applications, calendars, and fliers. Work with City-contracted advertising agency to develop brochures and posters; Manage the marketing and promotions budgets for municipal museums; Coordinate special events for the museums, including First Friday Art Trail, summer showcase concert series, gallery talks, Veterans Day events, D-Day events, and other events as required; Function as event management coordinator during assigned periods of events, handle problems and settlements of performers, artists, speakers, etc.; Perform related duties as required. Qualifications The position requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, fine arts, or a related field with an additional two years experience in organizing and directing special events for a museum, convention center, or community festival; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: Knowledge and Abilities KNOWLEDGE OF: Procedures and practices of event planning , scheduling, and implementation; Practices of working with boards and committees. ABILITY/SKILL TO: Direct and organize special events; Work with boards and committees to plan and implement special events; Market and promote special events across various markets; Organize and implement office procedures; Maintain accurate records; Communicate effectively with others; Utilize public contact skills; Use proper telephone etiquette. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Maintain the ability to: Occasionally walk and kneel during shift; Frequently bend during shift; Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds; Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at waist and partially at the knees; Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing; Place arms at, above and below shoulder height.
