Job ID 22100 – Collections Support Specialist I
Location: Lakeland, FL 33815 – This position is onsite
Pay: $21.24-26.55 per hour
Type: Contract, (3)+ months with possible extension
Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, occasional OT/weekends as required
Job description:
- Support loss mitigation efforts by processing loan modifications, deferments, and debt management programs to assist members facing financial hardship and reduce overall delinquency.
- Prepare and manage legal documentation related to collections, including garnishments, tax warrants, court filings, and attorney communications, while occasionally serving as backup for Bankruptcy, Repossession, Legal, and Third-Party Agency functions.
- Monitor and resolve distressed assets and underperforming loans by developing effective workout strategies to minimize financial risk and loss to the credit union.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting for special payment arrangements, general ledger balances, and statistical tracking, ensuring compliance with internal standards and all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
- Perform cross-functional support tasks such as posting payments, processing charge-offs, handling credit bureau disputes, and executing court or third-party orders, contributing to the efficient operation of the Risk Management department.

Requirements:
- Must have (2)+ year of recent related collections experience.
- Must have knowledge of the Bank Secrecy act and other federal laws such as: US Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets and Control, AML, Right to Financial Privacy, Bank Bribery Act.
- Strong negotiation, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Background check required.
