Job Summary: Attorney responsible for advising on and supporting business compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations including those regarding mortgage brokerage, loan origination and fulfillment activities and appraisal management in order to protect the business legal interest and maintain its operation within the scope established by law. Performs complex compliance advisory work for business managers in relation to changes in applicable laws and regulations, and the effect of those changes on business practices. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. ** ** Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions: * Provides interpretation and strategies, initiates communications to business clients, and advises on solutions for situations that may have a financial, regulatory and/or public relations risk or significance. * Monitors, analyses and interprets a broad range of complex, current, and proposed laws and regulations on the federal and state level affecting area of specialization. * Anticipates, identifies, and communicates issues of significant legal concern. * Communicates corporate position to the Senior Vice President and Head of Compliance and other management, as necessary. * Prepares, or reviews, compliance related policies, procedures and training materials in area of legal specialty. Provides guidance with regard to policies, procedures and training needs applicable to regulations. * Conducts research, interviews business clients, and gathers facts to establish and verify basis for regulatory change and requisite implementation for compliance. * Manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, complaints or inquiries. * Answer date-to-day questions from business units relating to regulatory compliance matters. * Work with other attorneys and staff.

Preferred: * Knowledge and/or experience with laws and regulation related to appraisal management, a plus. ** ** Travel Requirement: ** ** It is expected that this position may include travel up to 10% of the time. This is subject to change based on many factors, including business needs. ** ** Language Ability: Ability to read/analyze/interpret journals/financial reports/legal documents; respond to inquiries/complaints from customers/reg. agencies/ community; write speeches/articles for publication; present info to top mgmt./public groups/ boards of directors. Mathematical Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
