Expedias big data platform will be your playground. We apply state of the art techniques to large datasets in order to understand the ever-changing online travel market. We test everything through validated learning (A/B testing) - from new functionality within our apps and websites, to analyzing results from initiatives and campaigns; yielding fascinating customer insights and driving massive business growth. Data is at the center of everything we do; personalizing the experience of our customers with near real-time decision-making. Expedia is looking for talented Analytics interns across our Bellevue/Seattle & Dallas offices. The role(s) will support and influence decisions based on data and insightful analyses. What Youll Do: * You will have experience working through complex school problems and be dedicated to partner with internal clients using a consultative approach * Understand business problems, identify the key challenges, provide/prototype solutions, and solve using statistical analysis and tools * Be prepared to handle ambiguity and have the ability to define and solve problems by using available data and making reasonable assumptions * You will turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights to help drive improvements for customers, for the business, and for our operations * You will identify data sources, and correlate data across them, to develop insights that drive operational improvements * You will support, influence and challenge business decisions with data and timely & insightful analyses * Communicate analysis findings and recommendations both strategic and tactical to colleagues, partners, and leadership in a clear, concise, and influential manner * Learn to navigate different data sources from converting raw data into meaningful and actionable insights to gathering qualitative information * Collaborate & partner with the Business Intelligence team, insuring that data integrity, reporting and analyses progress symbiotically Who You Are: * Able to work for 12 weeks between May 20 August 9 or June 17 September 6 * Currently enrolled in a 4-year university graduating December 2019 or Spring 2020 * Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Economics or Business * Have strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation and the capacity to work under pressure and tight deadlines * You have permanent authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: * Previous internship experience in related field * 3.0 minimum cumulative G.P.A * Have completed classes or projects in SQL, statistics and/or modeling * Familiarity with dedicated tools like R & SAS * Familiarity with current technologies, e.g., HADOOP, for large data set storage, processing and analysis * Travel industry and/or e-commerce experience is a plus Your Internship Will Include: * Dedicated support from a manager and mentor for the summer * Social events, community events and learning events * Relocation assistance, if eligible * Hotel Discounts Intern Program Dates: To ensure a consistent experience, we offer two different start dates.
