    Job Description

    The Compliance/Privacy Advisor will:

    • Maintain subject matter expertise on applicable privacy and consumer laws and regulations
    • Develop and manage strong working relationships with business units
    • Maintain understanding of business line operating processes, strategies, products, and services
    • Proactively develop business acumen
    • Provide effective challenge and guidance on privacy and compliance risks
    • Perform Compliance Risk Assessments of business functions, products and services
    • Draft, update and/or review policies and standards that address compliance requirements
    • Provide expert regulatory advice, challenge and oversight on compliance matters to business units
    • Review marketing, advertising content and other consumer communications for adherence to regulatory requirements, company standards and industry best practices
    • Support compliance assurance activities including independent compliance testing and monitoring activities
    • Evaluate issues and test findings for compliance impacts
    • Work with business line on action plans designed to address control breakdowns and track timely remediation of regulatory issues
    • Collaborate with legal, risk and other key groups to assess risk and recommend controls for new products, customers/clients and initiatives
    • Stay current on the regulatory environment and expectations
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Manager

    TRAVEL:

    Approximately 10-15%, domestic

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
    • At least 4 years of experience in privacy, compliance, legal, audit or risk management
    • Strong knowledge of consumer protection, privacy, and data security regulations (e.g., FCRA, UDAAP, GLBA), FFIEC standards, and industry best practices.
    • Knowledge of general compliance management programs including risk assessments, control frameworks, issue management
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.  Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships across the organization
    • Ability to manage through change, drive and deliver results under tight deadlines
    • Comfortable working both independently and in team settings
    • Strong research, problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills to effectively solve complex issues
    • Strong critical thinking skills and demonstrated ability to balance risk/reward in decision making process
    • Attention to detail and ability to ask the right questions and make connections
    • Ability to build rapport and effectively influence key stakeholders
    • Flexibility to adjust to the organization’s dynamic priorities and needs
    • Creative thinker able to support innovation while still managing risk

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor
    2. At least 7 years of experience in privacy, compliance, legal, audit or risk management
    3. Professional certification (i.e. CRCM or CIPP)
