    CONTRACTS SPECIALIST (JD PREFERRED)

    This Contracts Specialist position will support our Experian Consumer Services and Partner Solutions businesses. The position will provide you the opportunity to negotiate contracts directly with Experian’s business clients, requiring in-depth work with and understanding of a variety of different agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, global consulting, professional services, analytics, as well as NDAs, evaluation agreements, and standard terms and conditions.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    As a front-line negotiator with Experian’s business clients, you will find creative solutions that meet both Experian’s and its clients’ business and legal needs and ensure that the contracts comply with Experian policy and regulatory requirements. This position requires coordination with various stakeholders and subject matter experts in the legal department, compliance, product marketing, finance, as well as other groups at Experian to help drive transactions to successful completion within the required time frame. You will also maintain and enforce contracting policies including approval procedures for non-standard terms and pricing, assist the sales force with on-going administration of client contracts, advise management on contractual terms and risks, and provide training to sales and other departments on contract issues and negotiation strategies. You need to be adept at using your judgment and making sound decisions quickly to facilitate deal execution while minimizing risk to Experian’s interests.

    WHAT YOUR BACKGROUND LOOKS LIKE

    • BA Required; JD preferred • 1+ years plus of experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating software licensing, professional services, SaaS, analytics, and complex commercial agreements for large financial institutions, telecoms, utilities, fintech, and other types of business clients, in a corporate or other environment • Working knowledge and experience with revenue recognition issues as related to software and services, and with legal concepts such as Limitations of Liability, Indemnification, Warranties, Termination, Data Security, and Confidentiality • Experience with data privacy laws, a plus • Salesforce.com experience preferred, but not required • Experience selling enterprise software solutions and/or supporting sales teams at a technology company desired • Ability to lead a negotiation, understanding how to balance key risks and opportunities to reach a mutually acceptable agreement in a way that will not alienate clients • Concisely and effectively advise executive leaders of contract risk associated with certain arrangements when appropriate • Deep understanding of contract law and legal concepts, including their practical application in a business environment • Excellent contract drafting skills • Ability to summarize and communicate (written and oral) legal concepts in clear and concise manner • Some travel required for on-site contracts negotiations ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE: • High level of comfort in a corporate environment comprised of numerous business units with diverse needs and changing priorities • Demonstrated strong interest and desire to use and embrace technology • Demonstrated ability to quickly digest complex information and make good, informed decisions • Highly motivated, strategic, and detail-oriented with the ability to proactively organize a heavy workload • Self-starter who understands executing with urgency, and the ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environment • Maintain a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment with minimal supervision • Ability to draft a substantive email in five sentences or less
