    Job Description

    The VP of Engineering, Marketplaces will play a critical role in driving the growth of our fastest growing domain in the Experian Consumer Services business.  This technical leader will partner with key business and product leaders to define a technical strategy to support both the short and long-term goals of the business.   Participate in defining OKRs for the domain, then define and execute the organizational and technical strategy to meet those goals.  Build a world class team building products that will delight customers by providing them the access to a marketplace focused on giving the consumer the financial power and flexibility they deserve.    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:   MANAGEMENT / LEADERSHIP 

    • Provide management, leadership, and technical vision for the engineering team.
    • Drive a culture of innovation within the team, obsessed with identifying the
    • Develop and execute software engineering plans, manage software engineering schedules, resource, allocation, and budget.
    • Coach and support engineers on the team, with a strong focus on feedback and growth
    • Champion engineering best practices, iterative progress, delivering value, and data driven decision making
    • Strategize with the marketplace leadership team to lead growth planning objectives, OKRs and roadmap planning
    • Provide sound decision making for software engineering and product development while being sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business.
    • Drive hiring, training, career plans, and performance reviews for the engineering team.
    • Provide employee development, coaching, mentoring, and team building.
    • Help Agile software development teams by building a culture of continuous improvement.

    TECHNICAL

    • Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.
    • Define tactical plans to execute on
    • Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the software systems.
    • Champion software development processes including coding standards, technical documentation standards, QA processes, build, and configuration management to ensure reproducible methods and maintain high quality software deliverables.
    • Embrace and champion a Devops mentality within the engineering team
    • Drive overall architecture, design, security, and certifications of software products

     

     

    PRODUCT

    • Work closely with the marketplace leadership team to help define product direction and overall roadmap.
    • Champion tactical execution of product initiatives, defining milestones to minimize risk and maximize customer benefit.
    • Lead and represent Experian in solutioning calls with clients and partners
    • Translate product requirements into engineering specifications and designs.
    • Identify sources of technology and data that can enhance product/tech capabilities and offerings.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of software architecture and engineering required. Extensive experience with developing and delivering commercial multi-tiered enterprise software is required.
    • 5+ Years project management experience required, including experience managing developments
    • Experience with Agile methodology practices.
    • Experience with the latest cloud based technologies:
      • AWS
      • Microservice development
      • Spring Cloud
      • NodeJS
      • Kafka
      • Reactive Programming
    • Experience with Big Data technologies:
      • ML Pipelines
      • Data streaming
      • Real-time analytics
    • Strong product development, object oriented design, and development skills
    • Good understanding of the software business and its practices
    • Strong communications skills, both in writing and speaking. Ability to excite and motivate employees, partners, and customers with a compelling vision
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
    • Excellent people skills as well as a team player
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Fintech domain knowledge a plus
