The Cloud Architect is a hands-on technical position responsible for planning, designing, and assisting with all the cloud environments.  They must understand the concepts and provide expertise on infrastructure and build-and-release to development teams. 

The current Platform has been implemented primarily as “infrastructure as code”, so experience with Python or equivalent experience with other scripting or infra-coding tools is essential. The Platform is being managed as a true software product (story backlog, product roadmap, developer involvement in product direction), so Agile Product Oriented Development experience is also important.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• It is a must for a Cloud Architect to have good command over vital security concepts. Security is considered one of the essential aspects of the cloud. Basic knowledge of firewalls and other security components is necessary.
• Responsible for setting the overall direction of the technical solution of the implementation with an enterprise application
• Translating project-specific needs into a cloud structure that will suit those needs and considering the project needs in terms
• Provide designs for engineers on the project on how to deliver programmatic elements of the implementation.  Documentation is key.
• Collaborate with information security, DevOps, DevSecOps, and engineering teams to identify platform needs and issues with respect to security
• Collaborate with key third-party security partners to ensure that security controls adhere to defined policies and mitigate risks.
• Author Agile stories, estimate story points, assist with sprint planning and retrospectives
• Perform advanced technical troubleshooting for cloud and e-commerce environments
• Provide technical guidance to junior members of the team.
• Be involved in code reviews for DevOps and DevSecOps teams to ensure the highest quality of code
• Oversee the overall cloud security of the platform
• Improve overall reliability and scalability of the platform
• Increase the velocity and reduce error rate of the CI/CD pipeline

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 10+ years of experience in development/engineering, architecture, design, and infrastructure
• At least 5+ years of strong experience with AWS services
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solution Architect, AWS Certified Security, CISSP & CCSP are a plus
• Fluency in Python is a must, other languages are a plus
• Experience with a variety of open-source technologies and tools in support of cross-team collaboration
• Bachelor of Science or comparable experience
• Experience leading smalls teams or projects strongly desired

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of the DevOps/DevSecOps tools chain focused on the AWS Linux platform
• Experience deploying automation solutions in a public cloud environment such as AWS
• Knowledge of PCI/HIPPA and other security-related standards and requirements
• Experience supporting security audits
• Operationally savvy, experience with monitoring, alerting, and analyzing system metrics to identify problems and understanding system behavior specific to security concerns
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, e-commerce environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Leading highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
• Collaboration, drive open communication and reach across functional borders
