    As part of the largest girl-serving nonprofit in the country, Girl Scouts San Diego (GSSD) builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. With the help of more than 12,000 volunteers, GSSD serves approximately 23,000 girls in grades K-12 in San Diego and Imperial Counties. GSSD's 125 regular staff and seasonal camp employees work to develop, organize and deliver programs; recruit and retain membership; execute retail sales; maintain five properties, including two camps, and assure the business of Girl Scouting supports the needs of today's girls.

    YOUR ROLE:

    The First Aid/CPR Instructor is responsible for delivering established safety curriculum to members of Girl Scouts San Diego.

    • Maintains current instructor certification in a nationally-recognized sponsor of first aid and CPR training (Acceptable certification includes American Red Cross, American Heart Association, ASHI, MEDIC, or other approved organizations)
    • Maintains membership or registration in good standing, as indicated by the approved sponsoring organization
    • Delivers training to volunteers, staff, and youth (at least 10 times per year)
    • Facilitates, engages and impacts learners
    • Assists with pickup of supplies/equipment, schedule of classes, feedback, and records
    • Prepares teaching supplies and equipment, including light cleaning and disinfection of surfaces
    • Perform other duties, as assigned

    Position is based out of our San Diego (Balboa) location. However, may work from our other locations as assigned.

    • Minimum 2-years experience as a First-Aid CPR and AED instructor
    • Current certification as a First-Aid, CPR and AED instructor from a nationally recognized First-Aid provider such as the American Red Cross, or American Heart Association
    • Ability to cultivate, foster, maintain, and manage relationships
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed
    • Valid drivers' license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required

    Preferred:

    • Health Care Provider credentials
    • Bilingual in Spanish
    • One year Girl Scout experience or another youth based organization
    • Prior first aid/CPR course facilitation
    • Previous experience as an instructor or trainer in other area(s)
