Navy Maintenance Activities maintain, monitor, and refine Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process.

The Corrosion Planner is stationed at the waterfront and acts as the Subject Matter Expert concerning the interrelations of ship specific corrosion conditions and their impact on expected service life.  Additionally, the Planner will track recurring corrosion conditions on multiple Surface platforms, providing analysis and recommendations to, and in direct support of Navy life cycle maintenance strategies.  This opening is in Sasebo, Japan and will be on site at the Navy Base.  A highly qualified candidate will:

• Apply practical engineering judgment and experience while tracking depot-level corrosion work reported by assessment activities to support of the maintenance planning process.
• Possess training and certifications in Navy corrosion programs such as NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector or SCAT.
• Possess coating and structural knowledge as applied to tank and void systems and corrosion repairs.
• Be familiar with shipboard tank and void inspections schedules and blast and paint schedules.
• Be familiar with the government maintenance team and private shipyard organizations, as they relate to condition assessment and depot level maintenance execution.
• Be familiar with Navy Maintenance and logistics databases (3M, CCIMS and CADET).
• Possess excellent communication skills; to include proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Required Experience

High school diploma or GED and ten years of relevant experience OR, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant experience related to U.S. Navy Surface Ship operations, maintenance planning, and maintenance execution.

U.S. Navy maintenance/assessment experience with corrosion control preferred.

Must have a security clearance Travel up to 10% of the time
