  • Responsibilities

    The Financial Reporting Department of American Income Life Ins. Co. is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Senior Accountant. This position will be responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reports, financial analysis, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and researching exceptions, statutory accounting, GAAP accounting and assisting in the preparation of US and Foreign financial reporting. 

    • Assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements at subsidiary level
    • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and consolidate at both GAAP and statutory levels
    • Ability to research FASB and NAIC guidance and document accounting position
    • Staying apprised of current GAAP and statutory accounting guidance and upcoming proposed guidance
    • Assist in the documentation and process flows of accounting policies
    • Work with external auditor requests
    • Special projects with Vice President , Controller

    Required Skills

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Power Pivot
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing financial reporting priorities   and fast deadlines

    Required Experience

    • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting required
    • Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • CPA required
    • Strong background in financial reporting
    • Proven ability to develop, document, maintain operations policies and procedures, including designing and documenting detailed process flows
    • Workiva or other similar reporting tools experience a plus
    • Previous insurance accounting experience a plus
