Position Overview As the Project Engineer, Storage, you will assist with the technical design, project engineering, evaluation, and execution of commercial and utility-scale energy storage projects in Invenergys target markets throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe. This position will be based in the Chicago office. Responsibilities · Evaluate and recommend battery technologies for energy storage projects based on technological and commercial indicators in conjunction with intended application(s) · Stay abreast of technological and commercial advancements in the storage technology space to ensure Invenergy is at the leading edge of the market · Work to develop controls algorithms for optimizing dispatch of energy storage · Coordinate system design with owners engineers and battery manufacturers · Optimize project designs to maximize financial returns · Prepare conceptual project layouts using GIS or CAD software · Conduct site visits · Assist in the development of sales proposals and PPA pricing efforts · Interface with project management and operations teams to ensure timely and complete transfer of technical responsibilities throughout the project development cycle · Work with project electrical engineering group to ensure compliance with all design guidelines Required Skills · Bachelors degree in engineering (masters degree preferred) · Minimum 2 years of experience in the energy storage industry · Minimum 1 year of experience in energy storage project design and performance modeling · Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint · Familiarity with Energy Storage Modeling software (HOMER, ESVT, etc.) · Knowledge of renewable generation · Knowledge of modeling energy project economics and familiarity with NPV, IRR, and LCOE · Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at the same time · Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills · A desire to work in a dynamic work environment with people of many different backgrounds.
