Armed Security Officer Kessinger Hunter Management, Inc. - Kansas City, MO 64108 JOB SUMMARY Provides full security (protection of persons and of property, first aid, limited fire, and preventive activities relating to theft, vandalism and illegal entry) services for the Crown Center Complex and patrols the premises to protect the public, maintain order, enforce regulations, and ensure observance of applicable laws and Crown Center rules/regulations. 1 Full time position available: Days off rotate monthly and shift available is: 11:15 p.m.-7:15 a.m. Shift is eligible for 9% differential pay in addition to base pay. Responsibilities and Duties JOB DUTIES: -Patrols office buildings, retail center, parking areas, dock areas and outside grounds, tenant areas (upon request), , special events, and other work sites. -Periodically, performs duties of Communications Technician and/or Security Officer Technician in the Command Center and/or Hallmark facilities. -Checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure. -Engages violators regarding rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, issuing warnings, trespass notices, and apprehend, detain or expel persons engaging in suspicious, prohibited and/or criminal acts using good judgment and, if use of force is appropriate, using only the amount of force reasonably necessary. -Checks equipment and machinery for signs of damage and/or tampering and reports any issues to management. -Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked. -Sounds alarm and/or ensure police, EMS and/or fire department are contacted when appropriate to provide their support services regarding unauthorized persons, criminal activity, injured or ill persons, and/or fire. -Conducts inspections of fire extinguishers, performs life safety system checks and reports problems to ensure notifications are made to initiate preventive maintenance and repairs. -Utilizes a touch probe to document patrol paths when patrolling assigned areas and/or responding to an area on a call. -Records information such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment in a daily activity log and reports these issues to the Command Center for follow up work orders and to ensure management is notified. -Prepares reports documenting information/incidents as requested, directed and/or otherwise required. -Regulates vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic to maintain orderly flow throughout the complex. -Operates motor vehicles and security carts while providing vehicle patrols and/or responding to issues, and provides security and money escorts. -May be assigned to and perform additional duties dictated by organizational needs. Qualifications and Skills JOB QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, Bachelors Degree preferred. * Two years related security experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience. * Basic computer skills required. * Must have and maintain a valid State Drivers License. * Must meet the KCPD firearms qualification requirement with a company issued firearm and maintain firearms proficiency. Carrying and use of a company issued firearm is a job requirement. * Must obtain and maintain a valid Class A Patrol Agent (Armed Security Officer) License issued by the Kansas City, Missouri, Board of Police Commissioners within three months of beginning employment.
