DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY
The Distribution and Warehousing Sr. Category Manager is responsible for managing the sourcing and supply base strategy for Signode's Fleetwood distribution arm.
Spend under management will be approximately $75M. The Sr. Category Manager will partner with Sales, Operations, and other category managers to develop the strategies for product supply. A sample of products managed in Fleetwood includes stretch films, chipboard, corrugated-fiber, woven fabric, cores, and edge protection.
Additionally, this Senior Category Manager will lead a team of buyers who will support all procurement categories for both Direct and Indirect spend. He or she will coordinate with the regional Category managers in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas to develop and execute global category strategies. The Senior Category Manager will drive analytics to identify ways to minimize "total costs of ownership" while maximizing service; manage the relationships and performance with the strategic suppliers in these categories; and develop partnerships with those core firms that truly support SIG's needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Interact with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service, and other functional areas in each division/unit to develop and implement category strategies which deliver target performance levels at optimum overall costs.
- Work across divisions/units to identify opportunities for synergy and manage program implementation.
- Investigate value chain concepts through benchmarking, seminars, and/or other research avenues.
- Lead the development of RFQ's for various sub-segments, drive analytics and TCO comparisons, and coordinate implementation of results.
- Engage Sales and Marketing with new product development activities to deliver target product costs; promote supplier engagement in driving innovation and design alternatives.
- Develop and negotiate vendor contracts to drive performance, secure productivity commitments, and protect SIG against risks.
- Assist / guide the various SIG business units with systemic issues from the suppliers under management via ABRs and supplier executive engagement.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and drive improvement activities.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with the core suppliers to ensure they are meeting SIG's outlined service requirements.

EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES:
- 5-10 years of experience in Procurement and Sourcing, preferably at companies with strong Strategic Sourcing disciplines.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.
- Expertise in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis.
- Experience in multi-national, global operations preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative, open-minded, and flexible.
- Leader - persuasive, tactful, purposeful but with empathy.
- Business minded with focus on improving and simplifying processes.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency in MS Office suite required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
- ERP experience desired (Microsoft AX preferred)
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- University degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline, MBA or Post-Graduate education preferred
