Mentors the ME 1s and interns in the dept. Functions as SME in manufacturability of our products. Subject Matter Expert in Assembly, Test, Welding Production and Machining. Responsible for safety, quality, and overall efficiency of product and workforce for manufacturing processes. Emphasis on continuous improvement through the implementation of Lean practices such as 5S, RCCA, and understanding of the Theory of Constraints. Define and improve manufacturing processes with regards to Set-up, Routings, Program Optimization, Process Methods, Tooling, assists QN (Quality Notification) resolution, participates in Kaizen Events, Root Cause Analysis, and develops Standard Work. Provides work holding solutions, tooling, measuring equipment, manufacturing equipment, and other technical support to product Lines, other business teams, and manufacturing teams as needed. Develops tactical plans to implement manufacturing strategies. MAIN TASKS: · Will be a working lead in dept. Mentoring, providing guidance, and development of the team. · Supports daily needs of manufacturing as an engineering resource. · Project Management such as manage capital projects for mfg. equipment. · Ability to train others in the application of manufacturing/engineering practices as related, gaining a mastery of multiple broader areas of specialty, product and systems. · Support Continuous Improvement events. · Manages equipment placement / layouts for maximum efficiency, quality, and safety. · Drive process improvement across all product lines while working with diverse groups. · Ability to travel to trade shows, OEMs, suppliers, and events as needed to stay current with changes in technology. · Order and Expedite direct/indirect materials as needed to support operations. · Occasionally performs negotiations with vendors and determines cost competitive solutions. · Take on direction/projects from Mfg. Eng. Mgr., Mfg. Mgr, PMMs, CIT group. REQUIREMENTS: · Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial could be considered also) with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in specialized area or product line(s). · Knowledgeable in ME systems. Can assist or train others in ME Systems. · Strong knowledge of competing and alternative technologies. · Knowledge of High Pressure Testing of various components a strong plus. · Ability to read, understand and create manufacturing drawings. · Demonstrated ability to independently create and implement functional and cost effective processes that meet specification requirements. · Demonstrated and documented ability using economic factors (cost, margins, profit impact of decisions) to reduce cost of manufactured or assembled product. · Shows evidence of good organization. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Spends 50% of time in office environment, 50% in shop. Exposed to possible hazards such as heavy equipment and loud noise PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Spends 50% of time sitting and operating a computer or workstation.
