Provide administrative direction and oversight for all wellness programs and activities. Develop long-range goals for the program and supervise the control, issuance and maintenance of wellness equipment and facilities. 2. Monitor, evaluate and analyze training needs in support of the program. 3. Plan, implement, and promote fitness programs including scheduling training classes, and developing and overseeing a range of fitness and wellness programs and activities offered for continuing education requirements and certifications. 4. Formulate policies and procedures for fitness and wellness programs. 5. Maintain accurate and timely records on participants to support Departmental responsibilities and requirements. 6. Develop and manage departmental, team, and special events budgets; order equipment; and ensure departmental compliance with all procurement and management policies. 7. Review and develop curricula, course outlines, instructional methods, training aids, manuals, and other material to support the program. Resolve training issues. 8. Supervise full time fitness staff and full responsibility for training, mentoring, and evaluating fitness staff, including shared responsibility for hiring, disciplining or firing decisions. Establish and maintain standards of conduct for fitness staff and training. 9. Monitor strict observances of legal requirements and consulting with legislative and departmental staff regarding compliance with the Government Code as it relates to Mandated Physical Readiness Testing. 10. Function as a member of the Departments management community by accepting special and committee assignments. 11. Oversee the development and implementation of training methods, training aids, and other support material, e.g. weight management, stress reduction, health risk management. 12. Research, design, implement, schedule, and conduct training and wellness programs for the department and recommends changes as appropriate. Monitor program to ensure effectiveness. 13. Represent the Department at professional meetings and other special or public events. 14. Ensure the effective utilization of modern training methods and techniques. 15. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS ** ** Education - Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelors Degree. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Kinesio-Therapy, Sports Management, Health and Fitness, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Nutrition, and/or related field is preferred. Masters Degree in Health and Fitness related field preferred. **Experience ** Minimum of three (3) years experience in fitness administration, instruction and application, or Research and Statistical Design/Analysis with a minimum one (1) year supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to develop holistic wellness courses in fitness, nutrition, recovery and sleep, resilience, and behavior change preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop, interpret, and analyze VO2 and Body Computation data preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and implement training programs preferred. > Licensure and/or Certification - Must be able to qualify as a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Instructor within six (6) months of hire. TCOLE Master Peace Officer certification preferred. Certification in two (2) of the following preferred: > a.
